The ESFL has been awaiting government guidance relating to the restart of grassroots football and implications of the new tier system. We are disappointed that this guidance was only released yesterday evening with teams having arranged fixtures to take place this week.
Following the announcement by the UK and FA we are pleased to announce that the ESFL will restart on Wednesday 2nd December 2020.
Grassroots and none league football can be played in all three tiers.
For those teams in tiers 1 & 2 please continue to follow FA and Government guidance relating to spectators and club house usage. Teams in tier 1 and 2 can travel to play fixtures however they are advised not to enter a tier 3 region.
For those teams subject of tier 3 restrictions the FA have confirmed that there should be no travel between tiers unless an exemption applies.
We encourage and advise all teams in tier 3 regions to fulfill fixtures which can be played without travelling out of their regional tier. This will allow teams to play their remaining fixtures once the tier system is reviewed/restrictions lifted.
At present we ask that all group games are completed by the end of March – with the qualifying teams progressing into the knockout stages. This date is under constant review and if required can be subject of change.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all teams and individuals associated with the league for the continued support.
All teams are encouraged to review the FA and Gov guidance. Please click the links below.
